  • Deep Democracy and CoResolve ExperienceDD & CoR Experience 6-8 June 2017
  • Instructors Programme: 9 June 2017 (accredited instructors only)
  • Elders Programme: 10 June 2017 (by invitation)

The theme of the DD experience this year is the perfect storm of change and how we  as DD practitioners can step up to the challenge! Please come back to this space soon as details are evolving and more information will be added.

Every period in history has its challenges, but today we are facing a confluence of challenges. The global refugee crisis, xenophobia, historic divisions in the Middle East, extreme political polarization in the west, poverty, terrorism, materialism and planetary destruction: we are experiencing the perfect storm of events. Many parts of the world are speeding towards major change, and major transformation.

At the 2017 Experience WE who practice The Lewis Method of Deep Democracy, CoResolve and Lets talk will explore how we can step up to the world’s challenges as we experience them in our nations and communities, at work and in and our personal lives. It is open to anyone with the base understanding of the Lewis Method of Deep Democracy.

The Inquiry:

We recognize that the tools we hold in our hands -while they are no magic bullet- hold a tremendous potential to be helpful in these tumultuous times. While many of us don’t work directly with the hottest global issues of our times, we recognize that they inevitably impact us, our teams, our clients, our families, our relationships, and ourselves. At the 2017 Experience we ask ourselves: do I step up in my milieu? And if so, how?

The Format:

The Experience is not so much a conference as it is the gathering of a community or practitioners wanting to take their Lewis Method skills to the next level. The programme will include presentations and information sharing about the newest developments in the Method and the Community of Practice. It includes meaningful interactions with local issues and actors, tuning into Brussels as a microcosm of the larger world. It also includes a series of small and large group processes on topics’ of your choice, where we expect the most impactful learning and insights to happen. Equivalent to master classes, these group processes will be led by highly skilled elders of the community and debriefed collectively.

The Learning Opportunity:

You can expect to learn from attending the Experience on multiple levels: gain new awareness in relation to your topics of interest and in relation to yourself, enhance your skills through observation and practice, learn from demonstration of a variety of effective personal styles in using the tools, gain inspiration and find ways to make your work more powerful. You are also likely to find likeminded people within our large international community, who may become friends, colleagues, thinking partners, motivators and support in your ongoing journey.

The golden arrows which most of you know is using the conflict resolution  steps but throwing arrows of appreciation instead of arrows of anger. We have done this type of public session before with great success. People re encouraged to come in pairs  i.e. to bring their partner, or son , daughter, father, mother or a relative or friend or even work colleague. they will then be led through the golden arrow session with a demonstration, Given the rules and asked to go and do the exercise, to take the time sitting on a blanket with cushions in the park, drinking wine, beer or soft drinks. There is always a positive shift in energy and a sense of hopefulness that results from the golden arrow sessions. This send of hopefulness begins an energetic shift which is really needed in these times. We will hopefully be joined by many from the public and have many people hopefully between 150 to 200 people coming to the event and doing the golden arrows. *Break away sessions  together with master classes.
The theme of the DD experience this year is the perfect storm of change and how we  as DD practitioners can step up to the challenge!
There will be parallel master classes and you will choose which you prefer to go to.
In each break away session the master instructors will be required to treat you as their ‘client group’  and work with you as they would their client group but using the theme of the conference. In this way your learning will be real for you and in each session you should gain a deeper awareness of how you in yourself, your family, your social network, work place, organisations,  communities and  society can if you wish step  up to the challenge.
They will work with you for approximately and hour in this manner. The following  hour will be dedicated to giving you a master class on why they did what they did and unravelling for you the process that you have just been through. At this point you will be  exposed  to new ways of  working with  and deepening your DD / Coresolve toolkit.
An example will be my work in the therapeutic world. I will explain briefly where I may be  using the work. Then I will work with the group  as if you were the population group that I work with i.e. people who are disabled or in care but  we will use the theme of the conference! You will experience how I have adapted the DD/ Coresolve methodology to meet the needs of this population group. We will then stop the process and go over what you have experienced and I will explain the adaptations. As a result you will gain self insight and insight into the use off the methodology in this environment.
